Do you have what we need?

Possess a trade qualification in boilermaking or fabrication.

Proven ability to manage the workload of, and delegate to, a range of trade resources.

Well developed interpersonal skills.

A demonstrated ability to prepare scope of works and estimate of costs.

Class C Drivers Licence

What will you do?

Assist sectional management to coordinate the activities of the Metal Fabrication team while also performing physical trade work within the team.

To provide safe and efficient metal fabrication services including delivery of new fabrication, maintenance, repair, enhancement and preservation of existing Council Assets and Fleet Equipment.

Assist the Building Services Coordinator to ensure that all purchasing activity conducted within Building Services is in compliance with Council’s Procurement Policy and the delegated authority of individual employees.

Contribute to the culture of a safe working environment by supporting sectional management in ensuring the application of risk management tools to daily work activities and adherence to safe working practices.

Contribute to the development of Council’s indentured apprentices by facilitating the appropriate rotation between tradespersons and projects.

Assist the Building Services Coordinator with development of works programs and consulting with other trade team leaders on projects of a multi disciplinary nature to ensure appropriate coordination of tasks.

Assume the role and responsibilities of the Building Services Coordinator, as required, in their absence.

Salary : Total Remuneration Rate starting from $60,270.12 pa for a 38 hour week.

Organisation Context of Position

The purpose of the Infrastructure Group is to:
Ensure whole of life planning and maintenance of Council’s built, physical and natural assets including infrastructure, traffic management, natural resources, waste management, plant and fleet assets.

Managing delivery of civil works and environmental projects across the LGA.

Provide contract management services to Council, including the management of relevant works and services delivered by external providers.

Manage the operations and maintenance of Council’s outdoor leisure facilities, including parks, bushland, pools, beaches, ocean baths and community halls.

Provide services that improve presentation of the city, including waste collection and management, graffiti removal, and street cleaning.

The person accepting the position will be required to sign off that they have received and understood their WHS Responsibilities, Authorities Accountabilities.

Position Responsibilities

Assist sectional management to coordinate the activities of the Metal fabrication Team through your position as Team Leader, while also performing physical trade work within the team.

To provide safe and efficient metal fabrication services including delivery of new fabrication, maintenance, repair, enhancement and preservation of existing Council Assets and Fleet Equipment.

In the absence of the Building Services Coordinator assume the role and responsibilities of that position as required.

Assist the Building Services Coordinator to ensure that all purchasing activity conducted within Building Services is in compliance with Council’s Procurement Policy and the delegated authority of individual employees.

Contribute to the culture of a safe working environment by supporting sectional management in ensuring that employees practically apply the processes of risk management to daily work activities.

Contribute to the comprehensive education of Council’s indentured apprentices by ensuring that individuals are appropriately rotated between tradespersons.

Assist the Building Services Coordinator with development of works programs and consulting with other trade team leaders on projects of a multi disciplinary nature to ensure appropriate coordination of tasks.

Any other accountabilities or duties as directed by Supervisor / Manager which are within the employee’s skill, competence and training.

Position Selection Criteria

Essential

A minimum qualification of Certificate III in Metal Fabrication (Heavy Fabrication), Boilermaker or Blacksmith.

Well developed interpersonal skills.

Assist with the prioritisation of workloads of multiple trades’ resources including resolution of conflict when confronted with competing interests.

Ability to complete minor fabrication design with a related specification and prepare estimates of costs.

Completed General WHS Induction Training Course for Construction Industry.

Solid experience and ability to fabricate steel, aluminium and stainless steel.

Solid knowledge, experience and ability in the use of various types of welding techniques.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and to apply quality control techniques.

Working knowledge of WHS regulation 2011 and a NSW WHS Construction Induction Card.

Current drivers licence – Class C (manual).

Highly Desirable

Ability to deliver innovative fabrication solutions employing ‘leading edge’ methods and materials.

Experience in aluminium, stainless steel, cast iron and bronze welding (MIG and TIG).

Crane Driver / Crane Chaser Certificate, Confined Space Certificate.

Solid experience in repair and rebuilding truck bodies and earth-moving equipment.

Computer literacy in MS office suite and knowledge of Council’s corporate software systems and procurement policy.
