Boilermaker Apprenticeship – Manufacturing Industries Group Apprenticeship Scheme (MIGAS)

MIGAS is Australia’s leading Apprentice and Trainee organisation and we’re looking for a reliable and hard-working 1st Year Junior Boilermaker Apprentice to join our team working for one of our host employers based in the Hunter.

Our client is a locally-owned business providing a wide range of in-house services to the mining, defence, agricultural, materials handling and transport industries. They are a strongly customer-focused company and are committed to minimising customer downtime and facilitating continuous operations.

There is a fantastic opportunity for a 1st Year Apprentice to share in this vision. The apprenticeship will allow you to learn all skills required to become a qualified Boilermaker, including (but not limited to):

  • Examining and understanding detailed drawings or specifications to determine the required materials and equipment for the job.
  • Cutting, rolling, shaping, heating or hammering metal products to produce parts.
  • Safely utilising various equipment such as hand and machine tools and welding equipment.
  • Utilising various techniques for assembling fabrication parts and structures.
  • Aligning and fixing pieces together through welding, bolting or riveting.
  • Adding finishing touches to products through cleaning, polishing, filing or applying protective or decorative finishes.

To be considered for this role, you will have a genuine interest in learning all theory and practical aspects of the Boilermaker trade to a high standard and possess a strong mechanical aptitude. You will have reliable transport to and from work and be able to commit to core working hours of 7am-3.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 7am – 1pm on Fridays, as well as all required TAFE study.

You will have an excellent attention to detail, a demonstrated aptitude for English and Mathematics, ability to show initiative both individually and as part of a team, enthusiasm to learn, and a desire to succeed in a long-term career opportunity.
